Privacy Statement

This notice is issued to comply with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), effective as at 25th May 2018.

The Incorporation of Bonnetmakers and Dyers of Edinburgh (B&D) received its Charter in 1530 and exists today for benevolent and social purposes, to support the good traditions of the past and to foster those skills falling within the widest ambit of Bonnetmaking and Dyeing, including all the Arts.

 Information

We currently hold information about you that you have given to us in the past through your Application for Membership form and/or your Annual Renewal form or if you attended a meeting or event as a guest of a member and you gave us such details.  In the case of B&D prizewinners, such contact information (only) came through the university or college. As a historic membership organisation, we have a legitimate interest in maintaining our records, and the core of these (especially our Minutes) are part of an archive currently in paper form, which will be held indefinitely.

 Your Personal Information

We only hold basic information about you as a member, namely your name, address, e-mail, telephone number, occupation and the name of your spouse/partner (if applicable) and this information is solely used for contacting you in connection with B&D business such as meetings, events and the like.  We also keep information about past members who we believe may like to be notified about certain events, but this is at the discretion of the B&D Secretary. In certain cases we also hold bank information where this has been provided.

 Where is it held?

The information about you is held securely by the Secretary or the Clerk to the B&D.  It is held electronically on computer and in some cases in paper format only and it would never be disclosed to any unauthorised person or organisation without your consent.  The Incorporation does not share information with any organisation and we do not use e-mailing companies such as Mailchimp.

 Website

Pages on the B&D Website sometimes include a link to other associated websites and this privacy notice does not apply to those other websites, since they should have their own privacy notices.
